2024 was sort off a mess
Last year brought its challenges, with massive layoffs and bankruptcies affecting many. Personally, I’m grateful to have navigated it fairly well, thanks to the opportunity I´ve gotten to work with some truly outstanding people. I also met new, interesting people and had the privilege of connecting with new wonderful clients.
And now when we turn and enter into 2025, it looks very bright. I look forward to meeting/speak with you all again this year, and look forward on what we are about to create together.
Behind the idea
The video came about after seeing a post in LinkedIn from someone (sadly I can´t remember who) doing a similar thing in Houdini. So inspired with an idea of how I could re-create the effect of painting a surface in Cinema 4D I went for it.
Time
Since this is a private project and not a long video It took me about a day/evening (Friday) to make and then I rendered and re-rendered it during Saturday.
Techniques
I used Cinema 4D with Redshift for this video.
Exported in ACES then comped in After Effects.
What about AI?
Well….
Just for fun, during the creation of this post I gave machine learning a try with the following prompt:
Prompt:
“A close-up view of a wooden fence being painted by a flying paintbrush in a realistic setting. The fence dominates the scene, showing intricate details of the wood grain and vibrant, freshly applied paint streaks. The flying paintbrush is caught mid-motion, with paint dripping slightly from its bristles. The background is blurred, offering just a hint of blue sky and soft clouds, keeping the focus entirely on the fence and the painting action. The ground is not visible, emphasizing the artistic transformation of the fence.”

While the result wasn’t quite what I envisioned. It’s clear that, for now, the personal touch and creative decision-making in projects like this still come from us, not AI. This video showcases exactly what I had in mind. This could potentially be a tool down the road to give inspiration or brainstorm ideas but they need to throw some more millions maybe even billions on it.
